Pendidikan merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam kehidupan. Dengan adanya pendidikan, maka dapat menjadi tempat perkembangan manusia. Oleh karena itu, pemerintah selalu berusaha meningkatkan jumlah SDM yang mempunyai pendidikan tinggi agar bisa melengkapi kebutuhan tenaga kerja di Indonesia. Tetapi, tak banyak yang menyangka bahwa masih ada sejumlah anak yang tidak memiliki akses yang optimal terhadap pendidikan. Mereka adalah anak-anak berkebutuhan khusus (AKBK). Meski demikian pemerintah pun telah menyiapkan berbagai upaya untuk mendukung mereka agar bisa mendapat pendidikan yang layak.
Pada era globalisasi, dunia pendidikan sudah menjadi salah satu fenomena penting yang dianalisa dan dipelajari oleh para pakar pendidikan di seluruh dunia. Selain menjadi komoditas bagi negara-negara berkembang yang mencoba membangun sektor kependudukan mereka, masa depan lebih banyak anak-anak akan didorong ke arah pengembangan kompetensi mereka. Sekolah adalah tempat dimana warga bertemu dan bersama-sama belajar, memperoleh pengalaman belajar yang berarti, sehingga diharapkan anak dapat mengembangkan bakat dan minat. Kekuatan ekonomi suatu bangsa dapat dilihat melalui bagaimana bangsa tersebut mampu mewujudkan pendidikan inklusif untuk anak-anaknya.
Adapun yang harus ditingkatkan kemampuan dari guru inklusi antara lain :
(1) Guru inklusif masa depan idealnya memahami keberagaman karakteristik siswa dan mencari literature dari ahli mengenai karakteristik siswa terkini sesuai penggolongan yang telah dilakukan ahli;
(2) Guru inklusif masa depan idelanya menjadi seorang peneliti yang bisa mendiagnosa dan menganalisis secara cermat masalah dan strategi pembelajaran di kelas yang memiliki siswa berkebutuhan khusus sesuai kebutuhannya yang dapat dipertanggungjawabkan secara ilmiah (valid);
(3) Guru inklusif masa depan menguatkan komunitas belajar yang telah ada dan dapat membentuk komunitas belajar guru baru yang lebih luas jangkauan jejaringnya untuk dapat saling menyelesaikan masalah-masalah pembelajaran di kelas-kelas inklusif secara umum dan layanan pembelajaran khusus bagi siswa berkebutuhan khusus, sehingga setiap siswa mendapatkan haknya dalam belajar.
